Get started in four steps

1. Add your monthly bills

Open Bills and enter each bill’s name, amount, due day, and budget category. Keep these amounts updated when a bill changes.

2. Set up your paycheck

On Paycheck, enter your take-home pay and choose weekly, biweekly, or monthly. Pocket sets aside bills first, then splits the remaining pay using your categories.

3. Choose your categories

In Categories & History, set percentages for spending, savings, investments, or other goals. Percentages for leftover pay should total 100%. A category is part of your budget, not a new bank account.

4. Keep your balance current

On Overview, choose whether bills and spending share a bank account. If they do, enter the available balance from your bank. Update it as money comes in or goes out so Pocket can show what is left after protecting bills.

Common questions

How do I check off a paid bill?

Open Bills and check Paid after paying a bill. Uncheck it to undo a mistake. Your checks save automatically and reset for the next calendar month, while your bill list stays saved. This does not change your bank balance or your full-month bill cushion. Update your bank balance separately in Overview.

How does bills-first budgeting work?

Pocket divides monthly bills by 4 for weekly pay, by 2 for biweekly pay, or by 1 for monthly pay, then adds your chosen extra amount for unexpected bills. It divides the money left over between your other categories.

How do I know what I can spend?

With one account for bills and everyday spending, Pocket subtracts your full monthly bills and bill cushion from your entered bank balance. Leave the displayed bills amount in the account. Pocket uses the balance you enter; it does not automatically check your bank.

Does Pocket pay bills or move my money?

No. Pocket helps you plan. Make payments and transfers through your bank, and then update your balance in Pocket. Credit card balances and payment details are updated manually too.

Will my budget save?

Valid changes save automatically. Wait for All changes saved before closing the app. If you see Finish editing to save or Retry saving, complete the missing information or retry. Save this paycheck plan records a paycheck in history; it does not deposit money.

Can other people see my bills?

Each person signs in to their own private budget. Sharing the Pocket link does not share your bills or balances. Sign in with the same account to return to your saved budget.

How do I manage my subscription?

Open Account & billing while signed in to review your access and available billing options. For a billing question you cannot resolve there, email us below.

Can I use Pocket in Spanish or on my phone?

Use the Language selector at the top to switch between English and Spanish. On your phone, open Add Pocket to your Home Screen for installation instructions. An internet connection is still needed.

How promotion tracking works

Pocket uses a first-party, 30-day browser cookie to count visits and understand whether Instagram, TikTok, or another source led to a trial. Only source categories and counts are shown to the owner; budget details, full browsing URLs, and bank data are not collected for this report. Example uses and trial-button clicks are counted without recording the amounts entered. Source categories also accompany your Stripe checkout. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are respected.
